Top Ten Reasons to Quit Your Job

July 25th, 2006 by dottie-maes

These are the top ten reasons why you might want to quit your current job. These are difficult, if not impossible, work problems to solve. You need to look out for your best interests. Your job consumes too many hours of too many days of your life for you to stay where you are if you’re miserable. No excuses, now. If these problems exist in your current job, make a plan, and quit your job.

—-> true. true. true. my job consumes too many hours of too many days of my life. i wakes up at 1145am-12nn, take a bath and dress up. company bus picks us up at 1245pm. reaches the office at 130pm. shift starts at 2pm and ends at 12mn but our manager lets us log out at 1215am. post shift meetings til 1230-1245am. company bus leaves at 1am. home at 145am. eat dinner. wash dishes (official dishwasher!!!). relax. sleeps at 3-4am. 8hrs of sleep. not enough after a 10hr shift with only 1hr break. sat-wed routine. thurs-fri (dubai weekend) —- sleep, sleep, sleep. hey, GET A LIFE!!!

1. Your company is experiencing a downward spiral, losing customers, losing money, and rumors of possible closure, bankruptcy and failure prevail.
—-> yeah they are losing customers. so they are losing money as well. and yes, "rumors" of possible closure… because D.I.C. won’t renew their business license.

2. Your relationship with your manager is damaged beyond repair. You have sought help to mend the relationship but you know it is too damaged for recovery. (Perhaps you were untrustworthy, missed work on too many days, or the manager acts like an untrustworthy jerk.) Whatever the reason, the relationship is irrecoverably damaged.
—-> of course i’m not untrustworthy. but i missed work on too many days… just because i dont wanna see their (read: management) evil faces. and yes, the manager acts like an untrustworthy jerk. oh wait… no, he doesnt act like an untrustworthy jerk… he IS really an untrusthworthy jerk.

3. Your life situation has changed. Perhaps you have married or had a baby, and the salary and benefits no longer support your life needs. You need to move on to better opportunities to support your family.
—-> i’m single. my salary cannot support my life needs. and we dont have benefits. i need to move on to better opportunities, yes!

4. Your values are at odds with the corporate culture. Perhaps your company is egalitarian and you believe in assigned parking spots for salaried employees. Your company does annual employee satisfaction surveys and you think these are a waste of time. Your company is hierarchical and you want to influence every aspect of your job. No matter where the clash is occurring, a lack of congruence with the corporate culture will destroy your attitude at work.
—-> management has no values. they dont know the words "professionalism" and "work ethics". annual employee satisfaction surveys? they dont want one because they know that they will fail because they suck.

5. You’ve stopped having fun and enjoying your job. No matter what changed, when you dread going to work in the morning, it’s time to quit your job.
—-> 100% correct!!!

6. Your company is ethically challenged. Perhaps the managers lie to customers about the quality of the products or the day on which the product will ship. You become aware that the company is stealing information from competitors. Whatever the issue, don’t stay in an organization where your ethics are out of sync.
—-> 100% correct again. "managers lie to the customers about the quality of the products AND the day on which the product will ship." and many more….

7. For whatever reason, you have behaved in ways that are considered improper at work. You’ve missed too many days of work, slacked off on the job, failed to maintain needed skills, and / or just generally developed the reputation of a loser. That reputation, once earned, is unlikely to change; you might as well quit your job, while you have the opportunity.
—->  i just missed too many days of work… but when i was present, i was hitting my quota… because i need to… the manager was always listening to our calls.

8. You’ve burned your bridges with your coworkers. Your group is not getting along in an environment that requires people to work together well. Again, at some point, the reasons don’t matter; start fresh in a new job and resolve to not let this situation happen again.

—-> not true. we were all united… esp during the "strike protest"…

9. Your stress level is so high at work that it is affecting your physical or mental health and your relationships with your friends and family. Watch for the signs of burnout and if they can’t be cured, move on. Read this article, Tips for Managing Stress and Change at Work for ideas about managing work stress.

—-> TRUE!!! super stressed out. having migraines til now.

10. And the top ten reason to quit your job? You are unchallenged, need more responsibility, and seek opportunities that just don’t exist for you in your current organization. You’ve explored the current and potential options, and they are limited. It’s time to quit your job.

—-> yes yes yes!!!

(From Susan M. Heathfield, Your Guide to Human Resources.)

—-> THIS ARTICLE MADE ME REALIZE THAT I DID THE RIGHT THING OF QUITTING MY JOB!!! 9 OUT OF 10… IMAGINE?!?!?! <—

July 6, thurs — weekend. we dont have work today so Toni, Jackie and I went to Bur Dubai to get our salary from hsbc bank. then we went around to do some shopping. bought a comforter for a very low price. then bought some other butingtings. hehehe. ate lunch at kfc bur dubai, while waiting for ces and his tito, who just arrived from afghanistan. then we went to dubai museum. to check out the history of dubai. duh?!?! and wow, their musuem is so high tech. hehehe. after the museum, we went to the mall of the emirates and deira city center to continue our shopping. bought havs for mom and sisters, and shirts for dad and bee. then we went to rigga road for dinner, ate at the golden fork. ces treated us. thank you girl. hehehe. and after dinner, of course, we dropped by our usual tambayan. CHIKKA GRILL. hehehe. it was thursday night so the bar was full packed w filipinos and other nationalities. there were no vacant tables and vacant seats. so we just stood there whole night. booze and music and yosi. perfect match :-) heeheehee! at 3am, all bars close. or else there will be a very huge fine from the govt of dubai. so we went to kfc again, this time in rigga road to meet an old friend, benjie fernandez. (hiskul friend and kuya of my ex… hehehe! former bassist of sheila and the insects and uk lily) he just arrived from pinas. he was with his friends. hi’s and hello’s then kuwentuhan about life in dubai. then went home at 5am.

July 8, fri — summer in dubai is really hot. and when i mean hot, its really really hot. as in 45 degrees hot :-( so my housemates and i decided to go to the Hyatt Regency Hotel Ice Rink. our other housemates were at work so we called and invited lawrence. the more the merrier right? we went to Al Maya Lal’s Supermarket first, which is very near our house, bought some water and mountain dew. then went directly to hyatt. i havent skated for like 10 years already. well rollerblades, yes… but ice skating? hmmm i dont know if i can still do it. but will try :-) so far lingaw kaayo mi. though pamaol kaayo sa legs and feet. and it was so cold inside but grabe gihapon sweat. hehehe. lawrence didnt join us. kay d daw siya kabalo. so he just stayed outside, ate baskin & robbins ice cream and pringles. pampatambok man na law. hahaha :-p after ice skating, went to Tipanan for dinner. yumyum kaayo ang bulalo nila. kinda mahal but it was worth it. Tipanan was full when we arrived so we stayed outside even if it was so init kaayo. ate our bulalo and tapsilog :-D then we went to carrefoure in al gubaiba to buy some things needed at home. was so tired and sleepy, so we went home after.

so that’s all folks. the other days of the week, i just spent it at home and surfed the internet. hehehe! — DottieMae —

*** angel: jinx more pics :-p

jaja and allyssa: yeah i have xanga and blogdrive accounts :-)

July 4-5, tues-wed. US Independence Day and Phil-Am Friendship Day. but for us, it was the Skycom Independence Day and Phil-India Friendship Day. filipinos and indians unite, first time in skycom history. wanna know why? there were a lot of issues in our office for the past few months. everyone was silent. no one complained about anything. but last week, the mgt made a wrong move. it triggered everybody to voice out their concerns, issues, problems, etc, and demanded the mgt to do something about it. when they refused to talk to us, we did what was best for all of us. wont elaborate any further, sorry guys. hehehe. but here are the pics.

July 4 —–

Image916_2

outbound agents and QAs. libot2 lang sa floor and chika2 coz we didnt take calls for the entire shift.

Image932_1

these are the human rights officers :-) asking questions about the situation…

Image935_1

this is our lawyer. from the phil embassy. very good guy. willing to help us no matter what. syempre, kabayan gud :-) (at the back, company lawyer and hr manager…)

Image1044_1

VIVA ITALIA!!!

July 9th, 2006 by dottie-maes

Italy_2Italy

Congratulations ITALY for winning your 4th World Cup title :-)

"The Azzurri outlasted France to win their fourth World Cup 5-3 in a shootout after a 1-1 draw marred by French captain Zinedine Zidane’s ejection in the 110th minute of his farewell game for a nasty head butt to the chest of Marco Materazzi." — Fox Sports News

I’m not a big football fan but i got infected by the world cup fever. Back in the phils, soccer is not that popular, as compared here in Dubai or in UK or in any other countries. WORLD CUP FEVER, yeah that’s what it is called. Here in Dubai, anywhere you go… there’s world cup this and world cup that. Even in our office. It still amazes me why this people go crazy about world cup. (coz it is only played every 4 years, like duh!!!) But then, I have an England flag and an England tshirt (given by our big boss and yeah, he is from UK).. and I also bought a ‘South Africa’ flipflop (havaianas world cup series). Hahaha. I’m not a fan of South Africa, but the England flipflop that i really like, doesn’t have my size yet :-)

Shang, your team won :-) Hahaha. I was waiting for you sa YM, but i guess you’re busy celebrating the victory of your FORZA ITALIA. Hahaha. Whatever that means, FORCE ITALY maybe. Tama ba shang? Hahaha.

Oh by the way, i promised some friends about a particular blog entry. Sorry guys, wala pa sa mood eh. Promise, i’ll do it this week. Hehehe. Something very interesting happened last week kasi. Basta wait na lang for my entry. Okie doks? See you then… — DottieMae —

*** Jao: Yeah, may sense din ako paminsan. Hahaha.

Marlou Paul: Hey, basa diay ka sa akong blogs? Ulaw ko da. Hehehe.

life in dubai…

July 3rd, 2006 by dottie-maes

whew! it’s 2am here in dubai. just got home from work. ate dinner (yeah, we eat lunch at 4pm and dinner at 1am… buhay call center on a graveyard shift)… talked w my housemates (about any chismax in the office… as if wala mi nagakita 24/7)… and opened the laptop to check my email and friendster accounts (thanks god, the "anti-gloria" hackers didn’t do anything on my profile today)…

okay, since i don’t know what to write here… i’m just gonna update you guys about my "very boring" routine during weekdays. (weekdays here in dubai would mean sat-wed so our weekends would be thurs-fri… sounds weird but yeah, it’s true!). our shift starts at 2pm and ends at 12mn. (we work for 10 hours, yes… we’re very hardworking in skycom, don’t you know that.) so toni and i ‘normally’ wake up at 12nn becoz our company bus picks us up at 1245pm. (if we get lazy, we wake up at 1230pm… so we need to catch a cab to go to the last pick up area). we take a bath (everyday that is… unlike other people in the office… read: "mga pana"), dress up (our very "nindot" na skycom uniform) and wait for the bus. from our house in Al Satwa, it would take us 30-45 mins to get to the office in dubai internet city. when we arrive, we go straight to the 247 convenience store in the other building to buy chocolate croissant, mountain dew and mineral water. (yeah mao na among ginapalit as in everyday). then tambay outside for a yosi break and konting chismax while waiting for our log in. As i said earlier, we log in at 2pm… then lunch break for 30 mins at 4pm… then take calls again… then another 30 mins break at 830pm… then take calls again until 12mn. kapoy no?! hahay. we normally have post shift meetings for the whole ops floor after work so we go home at 1230am. Arrive home at 115am, do the things i mentioned above then go to sleep at 5 or 6am. boring gyud no??? oh well, no choice eh.

during weekends, i sleep the whole day then when i wake up, i log in to the internet or mag movie marathon w my housemates. if hagad ako housemates, we go to the malls to do a little bit of shopping or plain suroy lang… or if not, we go to chikka grill. inom and dance ginagmay pangpa relax. hahay! i miss bee… huhuhu!!!

by the way, i forgot to mention that i was in the principal’s office again yesterday. (hr manager’s office… hehehe!) gipatawag nasad coz i was absent for a couple of days last week. well i can’t help it, i really need to rest… super stressed out from work :-(

Image894_2

while waiting for my turn (taas linya coz daghan sad gipatawag), i was navigating/surfing syvil’s new fon. sy, nice kaayo imong LG chocolate fon. took a pic of our reception area. that’s the new receptionist, natabunan… ulo ra nakita… hehehe!

well, d nako go over sa details kung what happened inside the hr manager’s office. hahaha! all i can say is gikapoy na siya badlong sa ako so wala nako niya gikulit and he sent me back to the ops floor in less than 5 mins. hahaha! guess he was tired of seeing my face in his office every month.

hay, today was not a good day for me in the office. wanna know why??? wala ko baligya. hahaha. i used to have a lot of sales during my first few months in the company but i got tired of all those sh*t so i don’t give a damn na gyud. that’s how i hate our company. i know, i’m very bad. hehehe! and here’s an evidence.

Image898_1 we have 6 teams in the ops floor. each team has a plasma tv in their area to keep track of our sales. now this is a pic of the team stats. i’m under anil’s team. we were third in the ranking today. not bad, by the way. we had 49 sales at the end of the shift.

Image895_2 and look how many sales i got. hahaha! only one. ngek, kaulaw. labwan pa sa new agents. and to think wave 2 ko gikan sa pinas. hahaha! bahala na, basta i only have 4 more months to go and goodbye skycom.

Image901

yipee! we’re going home. this is at the empty parking lot of D.I.C. well of course, wala na work ang uban offices at this time. it’s already midnight. we have 4 company buses (ajman bus, sharjah bus, dubai bus and inbound bus) but wala naapil sa pic ang other 2.

Image904

and that’s our office (i-mate bldg). skycom occupies the ground floor for the outbound sales dept (our dept!!!) and 2nd floor for the inbound (cust serv, activations, etc) and admin depts.

Image911now here are the pasaways!!! hahaha… pictorial inside the bus. the fab 4 of Mr. A… also known as ‘The Penguin’ (mga absenot kaya favorites ng hr manager)… bad bad bad!!!

that’s me, g, toni and jackie :-)

Image907with the birthday boy, mr german german!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU 2x

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2x

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, g-boy!!!

Happy Birthday bespren!!! tiguwang naka oi.

well i guess this is all for now. i need to sleep na. til next entry. — DottieMae –

attacked by an old friend (or enemy???)

July 2nd, 2006 by dottie-maes

I’m having trouble trying to sleep
I’m counting sheeps but running out
As time ticks by
And still I try
No rest for cross stops in my mind
On my own… here we go
My eyes feel like they’re gonna bleed
Dried up and bulging out my skull
My mouth is dry
My face is numb
freaked up and spun out in my room
On my own… here we go
My mind is set on overdrive
The clock is laughing in my face
A crooked spine
My sense dulled
Passed the point of delerium
On my own… here we go

Brain Stew. Green Day. Insomniac Album. One of my all time favorite.

I’m an insomniac since high school.

Insomnia. The state of sleep loss. No matter how much you desire dreamland, it refuses you entry. You stand at the gates, whining, crying, but stuck in the world of buzzing activity.

Insomniac. One who suffers from sleep deprivation. Can also be related to stress and depression.

Withdrawal Symptoms. Heavy eye lids, tired muscles, confusion, boredom, being on the computer until 6am (after work… and we finish work at 12mn).

And now, I’m very tired.

My brain is not functioning at its normal capacity already.

The bags under my eyes are starting to weigh me down.

It’s 6am and I have to get up at 12pm to work.

Now what should i do ?!?!?!?! — DottieMae –

*** cher: thanks for the comment. at least, d ako nag iisa. miss yah too. cge lang, maka adjust ra lagi ta. hopefully. (*trying to convince myself*)… hehehe!!!

oh well…

July 1st, 2006 by dottie-maes

i’ve been away from home since my college years. i’ve been used to it already. living life independently. have to budget my own money, clean my own room, wash my own clothes (yeah right, magpalaba ra diay gihapon to…), etc. after college, i’ve been to different places in the phils. still, i was doing fine. with my friends, i don’t feel home sick. not until now :-( feeling a bit down lately. there are a lot of things on my mind. HELP! missing home a lot. missing my bee terribly. missing my family. missing my friends. missing cebu. missing my normal life. but i have no choice. i have to stay in this LIVING HELL (read: our office) for 1 year. today is our 8th month so i still have 4 months to suffer. i know i can do it but i don’t feel motivated already. with all the things happening in our office nowadays, who will be motivated?!?! i pity the agents who just joined the company a month ago. the more i think about it, the more i get depressed. i thought i can do it. i thought i can handle anything. a high school batchmate told me to go out and unwind. or go shopping. i wish i could. but then, i don’t have someone to go out with. everyone is busy with their jobs. (then why am i not?!) me and my housemates have different rest days. and it’s the end of the month so we’re still waiting for our salaries to be credited to our accounts. hahay. i miss my cebu days. when all i have to do is wake up in the morning, take a bath and dress up. go to work for 9 hours.  and see my bee after. hang out with him alone. or with our friends. go to the malls. watch a movie. shopping. have dinner. have some drinks. go to places. i miss talking to my bee about things. about our day, our future, etc. i miss talking to dad, mom, twins and marga about anything. i miss going out with the twins. night outs or just chilling around. i miss shopping around with marga. i miss our family lunches/dinners every sunday. i miss dad’s steak and fries. i miss talking to my friends about any chismax. i really miss everything. huhuhu! esp now that the twins are also in cebu already. and bee’s graduating soon. (congrats in advance bee!) well, my life in dubai was fun. until these past few days. my bee’s cuz told me that i should be happy coz i am fortunate enough to get a job abroad. well yeah, it’s true. but i’m not happy anymore. and i’m confused. i don’t know if i’m still gonna stay here after my 1 year. look for a better job (a well compensated job that is) and wait for bee to follow here. (he’ll be graduating this oct already. just needs to finish his ojt this sem. then next sem, review for his may 2007 board exam) OR should i go back home for good. stay in cebu, look for a job and see what happens next. so what do you think??? well i don’t know what to think anymore. i’m confused and i’m depressed. and i’m missing cebu a lot. oh well, til next time guys. — DottieMae —

*** angel: jinx, happy trip and enjoy ur "summer" vacation in manila and in bora. will miss our YM chats everyday. don’t 4get to post pics as soon as you get back oks?
